Dermatology is the medical-surgical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes (oral and genital). It is dedicated not only the disease but also the overall health of the skin and appendages, contributing validly to improve the appearance and self-esteem. It also includes the area of ​​sexually transmitted infections (screening, diagnosis and treatment).

Clinical observation is complemented, where appropriate, with ancillary diagnostic tests such as dermoscopy, microscopic examinations and biopsies.

Among the most frequent pathologies, it highlights acne, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, skin allergies, alopecia, vitiligo, psoriasis, atopic eczema, melasma, warts, fungal infections, signs (melanocytic nevi) and skin cancer. Currently, in addition to conventional medical and surgical treatments, the dermatologist also has new technology and equipment (laser's intense pulsed light, etc.) that can correct and improve various disorders in the area of ​​skin aesthetics vascular dilatation of the face and lower limbs, photoaging , pigmented lesions, stretch marks, fibromas, sagging skin, among others.
